Giving Tuesday 2025

“If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated.”

– Carter G. Woodson, Founder of Black History Month

Dear Community Members,

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to stand with Petaluma Blacks for Community Development (PBCD) as we prepare for a meaningful and exciting 2026. We are already planning a new Black History Month exhibit and program, our annual community picnic, and an opening jazz concert to launch the celebration. Our youth group, Grapevine Youth Leadership, is moving full speed ahead with educational field trips, service projects, and regular leadership meetings. There is so much more we hope to accomplish in 2026 as we continue our commitment to uplifting and serving our community.

In 2025, PBCD made significant progress in strengthening our governance and expanding our impact. We updated our bylaws, welcomed a new board of directors with clearly defined responsibilities, and—thanks to grant funding—hired both a Youth Program Manager and an Executive Director. We are also updating our website and social media to better reflect the work we do and the community we serve.

As we close out 2025 and plan for the year ahead, we face rising operating and program costs at the same time many traditional funding sources are decreasing. This is a challenge shared by many nonprofits in our region—and one that makes community support more essential than ever.

Even with these challenges, 2025 has been one of our most successful years. Our programs saw record attendance and received wonderful comments from community members. We are proud of the work we accomplished together.

On this Giving Tuesday, we ask for your support to help ensure that PBCD remains a strong, viable, and vibrant part of Sonoma County. Your tax-deductible donation helps sustain our programs, support our youth, and maintain the operational foundation that keeps our organization moving forward. Whether you choose to give, volunteer, or attend our events, your involvement truly makes a difference.

You can make your Giving Tuesday contribution at pbcd4us.com/donate, or mail your donation to:
